One day last month I woke up with a crazy idea: “I think I’ll make a dress to wear to dinner tonight.” Brandon and I had reservations at the nice French restaurant in town, and I wanted a new dress to wear for the occasion. Enter the Davie Dress by Sewaholic!
Over the weekend, I graduated with my PhD, a perfect excuse to make a new dress. I was lucky enough to have my best friend and fellow sewist Nicole graduate with me. Together we made “reverse bridesmaid dresses” for the occasion. I’ve talked a little bit about our planning in a separate post here. Today’s post is essentially two-in-one, because Nicole and I have both detailed our dress-making adventures for you. The same dress can work on two very different body types–after some trials and tribulations.
At the beginning of the year, I set myself a goal of making Brandon 6 projects throughout 2018. When I asked Brandon what he would like, one of the things he asked for was a small gym bag. He was looking for something just big enough to carry a change of clothes and sneakers.
Happy belated Thanksgiving, everybody! This year we hosted for the first time, and I wanted to make sure that our dining room was nice and presentable for company. We hadn’t really decorated our dining room since we moved in back in February, so I ended up making most of what we needed. I made placemats, napkins, and curtains for our dining room, plus I reupholstered our dining set.
