Back in May two of my good friends from college got married. I knew I wanted to make a dress for the occasion, and the dress code was black tie optional. This make required some serious thought (and investment), so I went to my local fabric shop, Mulberry Silks for inspiration. I was only looking for ideas (silouette, color, fabric type), but walked out with the Burda 6994 pattern and 4 yards of a gorgeous Vera Wang sateen. Fortunately they have a student discount!

Stashbusting Toddler Tunic

For Labor Day, we went up to Maryland to spend the weekend with my boyfriend’s family including his two nieces. I couldn’t go empty-handed, so I whipped up this little tunic to bring with me. Without further ado, here is the last installment of my summer baby collection.

This little tunic features an organic cotton top with a button detail on the shoulders and a gathered blue skirt. It is my second Burdastyle pattern, and comes from the same June 2014 magazine as last year’s fall baby dress. The pattern pieces are actually modified versions of the same pattern, cut in a bigger size. Continue reading

Fall BurdaStyle Baby Dress

One of the best surprises about moving to Chapel Hill was finding local fabric shops in the area.   I could never find an indy shop in DC, so this is a real treat for me.  The local apparel fabric shop is called Mulberry Silks and Fine Fabrics. I made sure to make a trip there in my first month in the area and bought my first BurdaStyle magazine–for half off!
