Ireland Holiday Dress: Butterick 6168
StandardBack in 2015, I travelled to Ireland to present at the Society for Longitudinal and Lifecourse Studies conference in Dublin Castle. While I was in Dublin, I wandered into a fabric shop and bought this luxurious black and white printed fabric (content now unknown). I knew I wanted to make a dress out of it, so I bought 3 yards, but it took me 2 years to build up the courage to cut into it. Continue reading
Christmas Tree Skirt
StandardFor the past few years we’ve been using a blanket as a tree skirt for the holidays. I wanted to up our game this year, and make a skirt that would complement our dining room, where we put our tree. Red would not do.
Holiday Sewing: Ice Skate Ornaments
StandardI’ve started a bit of a tradition with my mother-in-law. For the past two years, Brandon’s parents have come over for Thanksgiving. Over the holiday weekend, his mom and I make a new set of Christmas ornaments. Last year we made ornaments reflecting my heritage: Scandanavian fabric stars a la Crafting a Rainbow. This year we made little felt ice skates, which is a nod to Brandon, who has played hockey since age 3.
